Sale Camera Club Competition Topics 2023

 

February (Digital)Open Gippsland: Any subject, any style.  Whatever takes your fancy or captures your imagination as long as your image is taken in Gippsland. For this exercise Gippsland is the local government areas of Bass Coast, Baw Baw, East Gippsland, Latrobe, South Gippsland and Wellington (download results presentation).

March (Digital) Wildlife: Non-domesticated birds, animals, insects, etc in their natural environment; land, sea or air.

​

April (Digital) Speed/Motion: We need to convey the sense of motion. A fast car, a horse running, a waterfall flowing, a bird flying. Two of the most common techniques are blurred subject with the background in focus or blurred background with subject in focus. Use these or other techniques but you must show the motion.

​

May (Print) – Blue/Golden Hour: Any image capturing the colours close to sunrise and sunset. The Golden Hour is the time shortly before sunset or shortly after sunrise when the light is softer and redder. The Blue Hour is the time shortly after sunset or before sunrise when the sky is a deep, dark blue. Landscapes, city skylines, lakes and the sea, even portraits, have an extra impact from the soft light.

June (Digital)Still Life: Any posed, inanimate object or group of inanimate objects. Food, meals, furniture, flowers, tools, implements, etc. Think about things such as shapes, balance, lines, arrangement, details and depth.

​

July (Digital)Natures Details & Patterns: Any naturally occurring pattern of any scale - microscopic to gigantic, land, sea or air – where the pattern dominates the image. Examples: leaves, rocks, bark, feathers, clouds, waves, dune ripples, etc.

​

August (Digital) People in Monochrome: People posed or unposed, portrait or casual, singly or in groups, with at least one face visible and – for this competition, monochrome means a black and white image.

​

September (Print) Vertical Landscape: Landscape photography typically captures the presence of nature but can also include man-made features. Needs to be taken in a vertical, portrait orientation, not the classic landscape orientation.

​

October (Digital) Street Photography: Image people in everyday life in a public place. Definition: "The candid documentation of life and people's interactions with their surroundings and each other".

 

November (Digital) Treasure Hunt: Our annual fun day out. You can’t plan ahead for this one. We will keep you posted!!!

December (Print) Open:  Any subject, any style.  Whatever takes your fancy or captures your imagination but this time your image can be taken anywhere.
